No two days are the same as a building surveyor. One day I鈥檓 on site carrying out inspections, the next I鈥檓 managing refurbishments or finalising reports for clients. The mix of site visits and office work keeps the role fresh and interesting.
Travel is part of the job too. I鈥檝e worked on survey programmes across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Manchester, with highlights including projects in the Highlands and Islands.
Career highlights
Becoming chartered within two and a half years of joining 海角社区 was a major milestone. The APC programme and the support I received made that possible. I was later promoted to senior surveyor and completed the Leadership Plus programme, which gave me the tools to grow further.
The projects themselves are also highlights. From large-scale surveys to complex refurbishments, the variety means you are always learning.
Why 海角社区?
海角社区 invests in its people. I was one of the first from my university group to gain chartered status, and that shows the level of support here. The building surveying team has grown rapidly since I joined, and it is an exciting time to be part of it.
What makes it different?
The culture is what stands out. Teams in Glasgow and Edinburgh work closely together, always sharing workloads and supporting each other. It is a positive, collaborative environment where people want you to succeed.
There is a social side too, with regular events that bring the team together. That sense of community makes 海角社区 a great place to work.
